Celebration of April 25
On April 25, 1945, the Allied troops liberated Italy from the Nazi occupation. To commemorate this day, at Isola delle Femmine a ceremony was organized in which the citizenship has attended.
A cortege, preceded by a musical band, started from square Pittsburg and arrived to Piano Ponente, where Flag raising ceremony was held, the mayor laid a laurel crown on the stele placed there to honor the heroes of Isola delle Femmine died for their Country during the two World Wars. During the ceremony, some young people have recalled the partisans, reading their letters sent from prison to their loved ones before being executed.
The ceremony ended with a short speech delivered by the mayor Stefano Bologna, who wanted to remember all those who have fought and died to make Italy a free country and he said that we all have to contribute so that our nation is completely free from corruption, from abuse of power and Mafia.
